A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) is a large-scale remote management system that enables a large number of telemetry measurements to be processed in real time and technical installations to be remotely controlled. A SCADA has several functionalities: calculation, archiving, graphic management, alarm management and management of interfaces between PLCs.
From a hierarchical point of view, a SCADA is located in the 2nd level of the CIM pyramid, between Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). It is a supervision tool that feeds a database by sampling over a given periodicity. A SCADA can also be used without MES, as is the case in this project.
The PROMU Consulting team chose a proprietary SCADA for its ease of integration and its similarity with what is used in the industry.
